Wild Arts and Craft Trails

For families, small groups and beginners curious to learn about Island Arts, Crafts and Traditional Skills - an intrinsic part of Orkney cultural heritage and environment.

Visit local workshops and discover your own skills with local experienced artists and crafts people. On the trails, you will have a choice of workshops in pottery, felt making, painting and sculpture. You will also have a choice to visit local jewellery, tapestry and Orkney Chair and basket weaving studios as well as Highland Park Distillery.

Lynn also holds environmental arts and crafts activities as Via Studio, and she encourages everyone to draw inspiration from the local landscapes, seascapes and wildlife... rockpooling, beachcombing and coastal walks.

Legendary Trails and Tales

An Orkney Experience that combines legends, lore and social customs of the Orkney fishing, farming and craft communities, with a careful blend of field excursions, workshop activities, heritage talks and slideshows and an Island Peatfire Tales evening.

Orkney's legends come to life on location at Stone Circles, Pictish Brochs, Stone Age villages and ancient burial mounds. Our trails and tales takes you through the Island peoples' cycle, from Stone Age to Pictish - from Norse to Scot. This includes the local folktales and customs that have emerged from ancient island traditions.

Learn how the Islanders' way of life has shaped today's Orkney Island environment.

For all family holidays
Separate children's activities are arranged if requested to give parents their own free time during the holiday.

For groups of four or more, we ensure that your group are the only guests at Via House for the duration of your stay.

Your holiday also includes pick-up / drop-off on arrival / departure from ferries / airport (groups must be picked up together.)

We work with local Orcadian, Keith of EXPLORE ORKNEY tours to ensure our guests enjoy Orkney.

You will also receive a Via House discount card, which can be used with selected local businesses.
